But none of these can replicate what happens when a community gathers under an open sky, worship fills the night air, and the Gospel is preached to people who may never have heard it spoken directly to them — not as theology, but as invitation.

The crusade creates something no other format can: a moment of collective encounter. When the altar call goes out and people begin walking forward — some weeping, some shaking, some barely able to stand — something happens in the atmosphere that cannot be manufactured in a studio or delivered through a screen. The apostle Paul preached in marketplaces, synagogues, and public squares. Jesus preached on hillsides, from boats, and in the streets. The Gospel has always been a message for the open air — carried to where people are, not waiting for them to come to where we are.

Pastor John Marvin has been preaching crusade evangelism since 1984. What began with a missions trip to Jamaica has become a lifetime calling that spans four decades, 12+ Caribbean nations, and thousands who have come to Christ.

Disaster Relief — The Gospel in Action

Crusade ministry is not just preaching. It is presence. And sometimes presence means showing up when everything has been destroyed.

Long before Ignite the Nations was established, Pastor John was on the ground in the Caribbean responding to disaster — not as a relief agency, but as a minister doing what the body of Christ does when its members are suffering.

When Hurricane Georges devastated Antigua in 1998, Pastor John was there. When Montserrat's Soufrière Hills volcano displaced an entire population, he responded. When Hurricanes Jose and Lenny battered the Leeward Islands weeks apart in 1999 — and again when Debby swept through — he was on the ground, distributing supplies, rebuilding structures, and preaching hope in the rubble.

When the Haiti earthquake levelled Port-au-Prince, he mobilised relief alongside local partners. When Hurricane Irma carved through the northern Caribbean, he responded again.
